Trials and what you pay for

The trial gives you every Pro feature for 14 days. When it ends, you keep using Signed on whichever plan you choose, and anything you built is still there.

  • You pay per person. Each active person in Users counts once, however they got there. Team members who manage Signed are free unless they also get a signature.
  • The bill follows your people. Imports, syncs and new starters raise it for the rest of the billing period, and leavers lower it.
  • Inactive people cost nothing. Switch someone off and they stop getting a signature and stop being billed.
  • A lapsed plan stops signatures being served. This is the one thing that affects email, so it is worth watching the renewal date.

Note: Reads and exports keep working when a plan lapses. Only writes and plan-gated features stop, so you can always get your data out.

Invoices and payment

Billing shows your plan, the number of people you are billed for, your payment method and every invoice. Invoices are downloadable, which is the version finance usually wants.

  1. Open Billing to see the current plan and usage.
  2. Choose Manage payment to change the card or the billing address.
  3. Download any past invoice from the list.
  4. Change plan at any time: upgrades take effect immediately, and the difference is prorated.

If a payment fails

A failed payment puts the organisation into a past-due state. Signed keeps working for a short while so a card problem is an inconvenience rather than an outage.

  1. Update the card in Manage payment.
  2. Choose Refresh on Billing to pull the new state through immediately.
  3. If it still shows past due after a few minutes, the payment has not cleared with the bank yet.

Watch out: When a plan finally lapses, signatures stop being served to Outlook from the next message people open. Messages that were already open keep the signature they were given.

Common questions

Can I switch plans part way through a month?

Yes. Upgrades apply straight away and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current period.

Do we pay for people who leave?

No. When someone is removed or switched off, by hand or by a directory sync, they stop counting and the charge drops for the rest of the billing period.

What happens to my data if the plan lapses?

Nothing is deleted. Signatures stop being served and plan-gated features switch off, and everything comes back the moment a plan is active again.

Do you do annual invoices or purchase orders?

Yearly plans are billed annually and every invoice is downloadable. For purchase orders, contact us and we will sort something out.
